what is a small wedding or an elopement?
traditionally, an elopement was when two young people ran off to secretly be married, however these days an elopement typically refers to an intimate wedding without all the frills (such as a reception)
The most recognisable differences between a small wedding & an elopement are the secrecy and the amount of guests; an elopement is typically up to 10 guests, although often with only the 2 legal witnesses. A small wedding still has that intimate feel but up to 30 guests, and typically has both a ceremony & a reception; unlike an elopement which is only the nuptials.
